Service

Pre-Purchase Fit

One of the most popular services we offer is our Pre-Purchase Bike Fit. For those who want to know what bikes fit them before they buy, this service allows you to avoid the very costly mistake of purchasing a bike that simply does not fit you. Crucial for Triathlon Fit!

What is a Pre-Purchase Bike Fit?

When you purchase or order a bike, it's important to first know your "fit coordinates" before buying. This insures you have the correct make, model, and size, and also have the correct componentry installed when your new bike arrives. The Pre-Purchase service allows us to identify your optimal position utilizing our Retul Muve SL Dynamic Fit Bike. This method is completely unbiased as we're not trying to fit you to a specific bike, which is what bike shops typically do. We're not a traditional retailer, we simply want what's best for you. Once we know your position, we measure your fit coordinates (contact points), which we use to compile a list of bikes that fit you, your needs, and your budget. This is not, however, where the service ends. Once you have your new bike, we fit it to you making sure it matches your fit coordinates so your position is optimal and you're ready to ride your best. You don't pay twice...it's all included as one service no matter what bike you choose, or when you make the purchase.

What Are Fit Coordinates?

Your Fit Coordinates are simply the contact points on your bike. These points dictate your position, so getting them right is essential to a good bike fit. What is your optimal saddle position? Where should it be fore & aft? Is it comfortable, or is saddle discomfort effecting your overall position? Is the reach to your handlebars, or aero bars, correct? Is your crank length correct? Can the bike you choose match your desired position?

These questions and more are what a Pre-Purchase Fit will answer for you. Your Fit Coordinates are essential pieces of information in helping you choose the right bike. Bicycles are expensive - shouldn't the process of purchasing one be more in-depth than simply asking how tall you are?

Saddle

Is your saddle comfortable and in it's best position? Your saddle is the cornerstone of your overall bike fit. It should allow you to ride without pain with optimal power.

Bar Position

No matter what type of bike you ride, your handlebar position should allow you to ride comfortably and efficiently. Are you in aero? If so, your aero position should be your favored position on your bike. Positioned properly, it will feel great!

Crank Length

Did you know the length of your crank arm is an important part of your ability to produce power? It's one of the most misunderstood areas of bike fit filled with myth and legend. ERO helped define & teach the industry how to find optimal crank length. We'll demystify it for you.

Consumer Direct Purchasing

Canyon Bikes & Others

Consumer Direct

Canyon and other bike brands who sell direct to consumer are changing the way people purchase their bikes. These online retailers offer great value to the consumer, but there are pitfalls to purchasing site unseen. When you order a bike online, it's important to know your fit coordinates before you buy. It's the only way to insure you purchase the correct size, and have the right componentry installed so you can enjoy your new bike right out of the box. Many of these brands have online fit calculators that are woefully inadequate, and consistently recommend the wrong bike for the athlete. Do you know your Fit Coordinates? If not, then a Pre-Purchase Fit is what you need.

Canyon Bikes

Now that Canyon Bikes is online in North America, there's no doubt they're disrupting the bicycle retail landscape. Canyon offers well engineered bicycles; you'll find no major problems with the quality of bike you receive, and their customer service is top notch. Their choice of components, as well, is typically very good so you get a lot of bang for you buck. If after your fit we find a Canyon will fit you and your objectives, you can be sure we'll include it on the list of recommended bikes. In fact, we even offer to build it for you before we fit it to you for $25.00.

Other Online Brands

Our place in the industry puts us in touch with virtually every manufacturer, and we use our position to build relationships that benefit our clients. Often, we can tell you exactly what changes to the bike will be necessary for it to fit you, and these online retailers will accommodate your requests for changes prior to purchase. They know if ERO says it's what you need, they need not argue. In fact, we've had people bring online purchases to us months after they've bought the bike only to find out the bike doesn't fit them, and though it was well beyond the time limit for return, the online retailer still took the bike back wanting to assure their client had exactly what they needed.

  • A Pre-Purchase Fit allows you to know your Fit Coordinates before you buy a new bike.

  • Once you've made your purchase, you bring the bike to ERO to have it fit to you. This is the second part of your appointment and is included at no additional charge.

  • If you'd like us to build your Canyon Bike for you, it's only a nominal fee of $25. We build other bikes as well. The price is dependent on how much works is involved, but we build the bike to your Fit Specifications right from the start! If you have questions feel free to contact us.
